Started Backpacker Tours in 2017 after one too many bad group trips as a traveller himself.
"We're not trying to be the biggest name in group travel. We're trying to be the one you'd actually send your own friends on."
I started organising trips for my own friend circle because I couldn't find an operator I'd trust with my own family. That's still the test every route has to pass before it becomes a Backpacker Tours batch — would I put my own people on this bus?
Nine years later, the company has grown, but the operating model hasn't: we still run every trip ourselves, with our own vetted vendors, and a captain who has actually driven the route. No white-labelled batches, no handing your booking to someone else once the payment clears.
2017First weekend batch to Kasol, organised for 14 friends.
2019First fixed-departure calendar — Himachal, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan.
2022Crossed 20,000 travellers; opened the Northeast and island routes.
202641,000+ travellers, 4.9★ on Google, and still 100% self-operated.
